David Rockey returns to B’ville to settle ‘legal issues’: Police: No charges expected against man missing since 2002

Bartlesville police are closing the books on the missing person case for Bartlesville resident Dave Rockey.

“David
came in Thursday and spoke to the investigative team that had been
looking for him for the last seven years,” Bartlesville Police
Department Capt. Jay Hastings told the Examiner-Enterprise on Tuesday
afternoon.

“He came in to tie up some loose ends,” Hastings said.

Rockey
was 51 when he seemingly disappeared in August 2002 after telling his
family he was going to Skiatook for a job interview. He was reportedly
last seen at a business in south Bartlesville and never arrived for the
interview. His vehicle was found the next day in the Tulsa
International Airport parking lot.

The case made national news
when Rockey was found — nearly seven years after his disappearance — to
be residing in South Dakota. Rockey reportedly attempted to obtain a
driver’s license at the South Dakota Department of Public Safety,
alerting authorities there to his whereabouts.

Hastings said that Rockey again told investigators that he left Bartlesville due to personal reasons.

“It
was pretty much the same as he told us when he was originally found —
Kansas City, Omaha, Neb., and South Dakota — he was working odd jobs
the whole time,” Hastings said.

He said Rockey told officers that he came back to settle “legal issues.” Hastings said Rockey was “more than cooperative.”

Soon after Rockey was located in South Dakota, his wife, Peggy Rockey, filed for divorce.

Hastings said no charges will be filed against Rockey.

“He
apologized to law enforcement for putting everyone through the hassle
of trying to look for him,” Hastings said. “And to the public, he
realized later about the work that people had gone through to try to
locate him.”

Pair charged in Victoria Stafford's murder

Police in Woodstock, Ont., have charged two people in connection with the death of eight-year-old Victoria Stafford, who went missing on April 8.

Michael Thomas Rafferty, 28 faces a murder charge, and Terri-Lynne McClintic, 18 faces a charge of being an accessory.

It is believed that Tori was killed shortly after she went missing near her school.

McClintic has also been charged with helping the accused escape authorities.

Rafferty is reported to have cried in the courthouse as the pair were arraigned this morning.

Drew Peterson: A View From Two Perspectives

Twenty years as a violence expert was never an intended career choice. It did not evolve from sitting behind a desk, researching the subject, blogging or reading journals from a crime periodical. It was harvested like a crop in the fields. Like adding another candle on a birthday cake every year, the violence escalated in my home and the screams for help turned into an important lesson in survival.

My own Mother died on my watch, so to speak. After years of violence by my father, a Chicago police detective, they finally divorced. Within 6 months of my mother’s false belief she was safe, I discovered her dead body in the kitchen of the former marital home she and my father once shared.

Similar to Drew Peterson and other perpetrators of violence in the home, my father was not going to allow my mother to benefit in any way from the divorce. This included her own personal freedom which he owned like the title to a car, until the day she died.

We have not heard much about Kathleen Savio other than she died of an accidental drowning in a bathtub. Her body exhumed 4 years later only because Stacy Peterson had vanished after a botched investigation.

In 1992, Kathleen Savio was an accountant in her late twenties when a mutual acquaintance who happened to be a police officer’s wife set up a blind date for her to meet Drew Peterson. Friends and family members recall how happy Kathleen was with Drew. A few short months after the couple began dating Drew popped the question. Kathleen felt safe and secure knowing she was marrying a man who made her feel safe and secure. Shortly after the couple’s second child was born, the marriage began to crumble. Drew was beginning to shout the national anthem, a theme used among most abusers maintaining power and control. “Bitch,”, you “whore.” "You look like a dog." You f..king slob.” When that did not have the affect Drew was looking for, with his open hand he punched and slapped her as evidenced by medical reports and photo’s taken after a violent outburst.

Similar to other abusers Peterson began setting the stage with his fellow officers in his department, and later on, under his command. Carefully strategizing how “crazy” Kathleen had become in an effort to minimize police response just in case she called and tried to report him for threatening and physically harming her. Obviously his plan worked because when officers from the Bolingbrook police department responded to the 19 documented calls and another 78 calls magically removed from the police log as responding officers did nothing more than as if someone was trying to "band aid a boo boo.” This case is just one example of the clear reluctance on the part of responding officers to use their police powers in the homes of fellow officers. The hesitation to deal professionally with this crime in my opinion increased the danger to Kathleen’s life. Looking the other way enabled Drew Peterson to increase his threats and violence to his then wife.

Once the couple filed for divorce, Drew continued his threats of violence and terrorism. Kathleen took out an order protection and was pressured into dropping it. And she did write in her own words on more than one occasion that Drew had “threatened to kill her.” He was furious at the thought of splitting his hard earned assets with Kathleen. This included the bar jointly owned in Montgomery, IL, sold for $325,000 and the martial residence sold at $287,000, half of his pension and shelling out monthly child support payments for his children.

Peterson had a history of abuse from undocumented allegations from Vicki Connely, wife #2 to a serious relationship with a girlfriend who claimed Peterson was stalking her. It is a fact, many officer related cases where violence erupts during the marriage dies with the victim similar to Kathleeen Savio.

Drew Peterson’s motive in 2004 for murder fell on deaf ears after the coroner’s inquest ruled “accidental death,” silencing, Savio’s family members from providing information or ever speaking out. Or the facts of the bogus hand written Will emerging after this healthy mother of 2 “accidently” drowned in a tub she never used when she was alive.

Silence behind the blue wall is also a common theme across the country. Back in 1989, had I not been spared by fate or divine intervention, I too, would have been killed that night. In working to solve cases where a woman has been murdered by an ex-lover or husband each case has characteristics specific to the relationship and the alleged crime. In creating a detailed work- up on a case, often I am able to pin point a direction not considered by police or a Prosecuting attorney to determine motive. And not every case has intent or motive. Each time a woman is murdered I do not assume anything about anyone until information and documents are provided to me. Sometimes relatives or police ask me to review a file on a missing person or murder case and I do not always have the answers.

I take what I do very seriously and it has saved many lives. My training and expertise began with a teacher with whom I studied under and feared for many years. As a seasoned veteran Chicago police detective, my father had two professional career’s one as Police detective, the other as a serial abuser.

Over the years of studying and working these types of cases, I have been able to develop specific procedures that work well to take a woman safely from a violent situation and to help get her abuser behind bars. My success rate has been phenomenal.

In a period of 52 days in April and May, the swine flu epidemic hit. As of May 15, it has killed 4 people. During that same 52 days, the domestic violence epidemic which has been spreading for years killed 68 people, including 20 children and 7 police officers. As a woman, it seems pretty obvious which epidemic is the most potentially deadly for me.

I think if 4 deaths in 52 days counts as an epidemic, 68 deaths in 52 days certainly does. And yet, while there were 2 people at my Metro stop in Washington, DC handing out face masks, there was no one handing out safety planning information. There was no one offering help to women and families who were frightened of their partners and parents. There was, for the most part, no one talking about this silent epidemic.

And it's not like the domestic violence flu doesn't make a powerful news story. We heard about Robert Stewart, who shot and killed eight people at Pinelake Health and Rehab Center in Robbins, North Carolina, when he originally show up to kill only his wife. But there was little coverage of James Harrison, who methodically shot his five young children after his wife told him she was leaving him. And there are still more victims who aren't counted among the 68 murdered because the crimes against them were not defined as "domestic violence." While the victims in these bloody 52 days were diverse, all of the killers were men.

Like human trafficking, domestic violence is a hidden crime which is often misunderstood and miscategorized. And like human trafficking, it is an epidemic. The swine flu methodically attacks and kills young people with weak immune systems and other problems. In this country, men too often methodically attack and kill their wives, girlfriends, partners, and children. And right now, in terms of lethality, the men are beating the swine flu.

Now that is a true epidemic.

In fact, many trafficking victims have developed coping mechanisms to deal with their trafficking and may act violently, have feelings of love or connection for their trafficker, and lie to the police.

Abortions earmarked by race An investigation of Planned Parenthood’s money By Lila Rose

Over the summer, The Advocate investigated the financial dealings of Planned Parenthood and made some shocking discoveries about the clinic-owning "nonprofit." We obtained the information by having an actor call clinics across the country and pose as a donor. The actor who called, The Advocate’s advisor, communicated to them a very racist agenda—the one that Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood’s founder, had envisioned. He then asked to donate money specifically for the abortions of African-American babies in order to "lower the number of blacks in America."

Despite his bigoted requests, no Planned Parenthood employee (or director of development, in one case) declined the tainted money. Some even asked to speak with other employees to get permission. In the first day of calling seven clinics, not a single Planned Parenthood representative expressed outrage or concern at the racism behind donations specifically "to reduce the number of blacks." In fact, some even went as far as agreeing with the anti-black agenda.

Planned Parenthood’s 800 clinics receive more than 200 million dollars of taxpayer money annually. It is unacceptable for a nonprofit to accept donations that target specific races. Unfortunately, The Advocate’s investigation discovered this is official policy. The calls unearthed a Planned Parenthood program that poses a threat to minority communities. Many centers set up "women in need" or "justice" funds designating money specifically for minority abortions. With more than 79% of clinics in minority neighborhoods, and more than 1400 black abortions daily, these programs are doing precisely what our actor asked them to do. Planned Parenthood is (intentionally or not) exterminating the black community.

UCLA has allied with Planned Parenthood, hosting their speakers and events each year. The university even offers a special Planned Parenthood internship through the public affairs major and regularly sends students to their clinic in Santa Monica. Our administration should immediately cut these ties with Planned Parenthood, and any other organization which espouses a racist agenda.

PP Rep: Absolutely. If you wanted to designate that your gift be used to help an African-American woman in need, then we would certainly make sure that the gift was earmarked for that purpose.

Idaho donor: Great, because I really faced trouble with affirmative action, and I don’t want my kids to be disadvantaged against black kids. I just had a baby; I want to put it in his name.

PP Rep: Yes, absolutely.

Idaho donor: And we don’t, you know we just think, the less black kids out there the better.

PP Rep: Understandable, understandable.

Idaho donor: Right. I want to protect my son, so he can get into college

PP Rep: Alright. Excuse my hesitation, this is the first time I’ve had a donor call and make this kind of request, so I’m excited, and want to make sure I don’t leave anything out.

Alice Donovan, My mother who is sadly missed and deeply loved

On November 14th 2002 my family got up that morning and did their normal routine in life..We all got ready for work and my mom Alice Donovan had the day off and was looking forward to her day of relaxation and rest before she had to start a new work week..

At noon mom decided to go to walmart to start her christmas shopping. She pulled in the Walmart parking lot at 2:39pm, parked in a parking spot but never made it into the store.She was ambushed by to young men with guns who forced her to drive away in her car with them..She spent three hours begging and pleading for her life. All her attempts to have her captives let her free failed..After raping her repeatedly and recieving a large chunk of money from her bank accounts they murdered her and left her body in a wooded area in Horry County South Carolina..

Both men were caught several days later and were put in to prision where they surely belonged. But they never told nor brought any law officials to the place where they discarded my mother..

Our family suffered the loss of my mother in different ways..It split our family apart into many different dynamics and the family fell apart. We sat through the trials of both of these men and heard the accounts of what they did to mom and the others over and over. We had to relive the nightmare over again and it seemed that no matter what we did to try to get on with our lives without her, we couldn't..She was still missing..Her body was out there somewhere. We could not except that. We were not at peace with that. For many years I often wondered if my mothers soul was at rest. Later I had to bring myself to believe that it did not matter where a person was placed in death, If they were going to spend their eternity with the higher power then their souls are at peace.
January 17th 2009 almost seven years later one of my mothers murderers decided to come forward and explain where they left my mother all these years with a map and pictures..A search was conducted and skeletal remains were found in that area he said she was..The memory gate lifted and my soul was flooded with all memories of my mother, good and bad and of the events that lead to her death..I relized on that day in January of 2009 standing on that dirt road as CSI came out of the field with brown bags which hopefully hold my mother, that I had been running and hiding from the truth..Not wanting to face the memories of my mother. The pain of losing her was so great and so painful that I thought it would be easier to forget her..And all I did was prolong the innevitable.

Now as I sit and wait for DNA to confirm that it is my mother's remains, my mind is flooded with thoughts of my mother. A woman with integrity, a woman with passion for life, a woman who saw the beauty in all things, a woman who loved like no other, a woman who I am honored to say is my mother.

Drew Peterson's Children with oldest son, Stephen

Drew Peterson's oldest son, Stephen Peterson, showed up at Drew's house about 11 a.m. Friday with three children, a teenage boy and a younger girl and boy. All four entered the house and Stephen, an Oak Brook police officer, declined comment.

Drew Peterson lives with his four children----two teenage boys from his marriage to Savio and a younger boy and a girl with Stacy. When Drew was arrested Thursday, the children were taken to the Bolingbrook Police Department, then transferred to the custody of the state Department of Children and Family Services.

At Drew's request, authorities contacted Stephen, who lives near North Aurora, so that he could take custody of the children.

When reached earlier Friday at his North Aurora home, Stephen declined comment.
